NSA Año: Transform the battlegrounds of yesterday into the fertile grounds of tomorrow

The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) concluded its Quarterly Accomplishment Report for CY 2024 on 29 April 2024. NTF-ELCAC National Clusters and Joint Regional Task Forces presented the highlights of their achievements in the government’s campaign against the violent extremists CPP-NPA-NDF. Emphasized during the event were the contributions of government agencies and local government units leading to dismantling of guerilla fronts, prevention of terror grooming, and the implementation of development projects including the Support to Barangay Development Projects (SBDP), a flagship project of the NTF-ELCAC.

During the three-day event, Usec. Ernesto C. Torres Jr., Executive Director of the National Secretariat NTF-ELCAC (NS, NTF-ELCAC) along with other directors of the National Secretariat assess the accomplishments of the NTF-ELCAC in accordance with its current roadmap. They also took this opportunity to identify challenges, issues and concerns in order to formulate appropriate solutions and interventions that will improve the attainment of target goals in the future.

The National Security Adviser (NSA) and NTF-ELCAC Vice Chairperson, Secretary Eduardo M. Año, led the culmination of the event, expressing his gratitude to government agencies for all their hard work to establish lasting peace and inclusive development especially in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS). “Let us remain steadfast in our resolve and hard at work in our shared commitment as architects of a harmonious future,” Secretary Año said.

Secretary Año also expressed his appreciation to the effort of all government agencies to meet the expectation of the NTF-ELCAC Chairperson, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. Secretary Año reiterated the pronouncements of the President to promote dialogue, cooperation, and diplomacy on both national and international levels to unlock the full potential of the country through lasting peace, economic growth, and social advancement.

Secretary Año adjourned the event by providing his guidance to all government agencies and local government units as they carry on in the campaign to completely end the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorist.
